Nightmare in the Daytime

about

Nightmare in the Daytime is the third single from my first full length album, Conversion. Conversion was recorded over ten days at The Sound Shelter in Franklin, Tennessee. I went into the studio with no idea what my album was going to sound like. No one in my band had heard these songs prior to the session. I handed out charts, we listened through the demo recording, and then we arranged and recorded the songs on the spot. My idea with this approach is that music is the most powerful and fun when it is first created. This album captures a moment in time and recording it changed my life. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this project and brought my songs to life.

lyrics

My daddy always taught me to speak what's on my mind
But whenever I'm around you, I get tongue tied
So I guess it's time for me to hide behind a song
Because my silence has gone on far too long

You're a nightmare in the daytime
You make me feel so small
You see you do this by really doing nothing at all
But I can see right through it to the root of your lies
You're a horrible person with the worst disguise

When I see you out in public with your artificial grin
I think about my mother and what might have been
Had I heeded her advice on social protocol
I never would've got involved with such a screwball

If you're got nothing nice to say then don't say it at all
But I’ve been quiet too long

You're a nightmare in the daytime
You make me feel so small
You see you do this by really doing nothing at all
But I can see right through it to the root of your lies
You're a horrible person with the worst disguise

You’re horrible, horrible
